GDG ENVIRONNEMENT STARTS ITS OPERATIONS OF BITING INSECT CONTROL
The firm GDG Environnement will carry out a biting insect control program using a biological larvicide in our municipality.
An Info-mosquito line has been set up to answer citizens’ questions
In the coming weeks, a team will begin monitoring breeding sites where mosquito larvae (Culicidae) and/or black flies (Simulidae) develop in participating municipalities. Following these observations, and depending on the weather conditions, the team will determine the precise date on which the first biological larvicide treatments will be carried out. Only environments where larvae are present will be treated. The larvicide used targets the generation of larvae present in the water but, since the biological product degrades quickly, subsequent treatments can be applied for the new generations during the season.
The control program allows a significant reduction of the nuisance caused by biting insects without affecting our ecosystems, including flora, fauna, and even other insect species that coexist. This allows us to live near rich humid environments, without experiencing the discomfort or having to constantly spray ourselves with chemical insect repellent. Our municipality has made the HEALTH choice to offer its citizens the opportunity to move and take full advantage of green spaces and outdoor activities.
Please note that all control programs using biological larvicides are strictly regulated. In fact, the planned operations are subject to the highest level of regulatory supervision, namely a ministerial authorization issued for each of the programs.
During the season, if you have any questions, we invite you to use the “Info-mosquito” line at:
1-844-840-8700 or write to [email protected].
Please note that vehicles and employees will always display the GDG Environment logo.
In order to improve the quality of service, here are recommendations that we make to citizens to prevent the proliferation of mosquitoes in residential areas:
- Prepare your pool early; an unstarted swimming pool can generate mosquitoes as early as May.
- Make sure your drains are in good condition and that the water evacuates properly.
- Do not leave tires or hollow objects containing water outside or near homes.
- Turn your boat upside down, empty wheelbarrows and waterlogged buckets, as these are mosquito-producing environments.
